Runaway Slave Ad, George, Willis and Jacob, Columbus, TN (Featured Document)

STOP THE RUNAWAYS,
WHO ranaway from the subscriber living at Columbia, Tenn. on the 20th July last; (viz:) GEORGE, about 55 years old, will weigh about 185 lbs. about 6 feet high, dark complexion, rather a sulky look and had a small pair of whiskers on when he left; he has a wife at Randal Robinson's near the Nashville Camp Ground in the bend of Cumberland River; he has been seen about there since he left; and WILLIS, about 26 years old, rather small, weight about 150 lbs. a light black; has little or no beard; he has a wife that formerly belonged to the widow Pughs, living 7 miles west of Nashville, on the Charlotte road. His wife is at this time hired out in the neighborhood of Hillsboro; he has been seen several times in the neighborhood of his wife since he ranaway.
Also, JACOB. He ranaway with George and Willis and was caught near Hillsborough, and I got him home, and on the night of the 9th of October, he made his escape from me again, and will either go to Davidson or Sumner county. He is tolerably black, slow when spoken to, large bushy head of hair, stout built, will weigh about 165 lbs., 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high; had on when he left a bluejeans roundabout and pantaloons, and an old black fur hat; which was all the clothing he took with him. He has connexion belonging to old Mrs. Cantrell, who lives on Manscoe's creek in Sumner county, where he probably may be lurking about.
I will give $25 for each of the said negroes if caught in this State, or $50 if taken out of the State and lodged in any jail so that I get them again, or will pay all reasonable expenses if delivered to me in Columbus, Tenn.

C.P. Young
